I put the fairing on the tandem and hooked up the our bike trailer with wife being the stocker and Zelda (first mutt) our dog we all headed to Iron Horse park and beyond. At the south end of Iron Horse they put a chain link fence indicating the end of the trail. The path condition is rated a 5-being outstanding. Very clean path today. The wind was nice enough to push us home. the fairing really helped us in the headwind. Only one other cyclist took advantage of the nice but windy day. It might be too cold for most.
Main thing is that Iron Horse south of East David Road is still looking new.

Iron Horse park makes for a great rest stop and a great place to start heading north and some city riding to connect to the rest of Iron Horse.

This morning, I took Iron Horse heading north from a couple blocks north of Woodbine and rode up to the AF museum to help scouts plant trees (Eagle project).  I passed probably dozens of people, mostly senior citizens heading south and turning east on Creekside.  Must have been some sort of group ride.  It was pretty chilly on the way up, but when we finished the planting project around 2, it was quite nice riding despite a pretty stiff northwest wind.  I was on my mtb though….  Not trying to hijack the thread.

By the way, there was some kind of big to-do going on at the base behind the museum.  Lots of WWII dual prop bombers flown in from all over and lined up on the runway nearest Airway.  When I got there a little before 10, cars were backed up on Springfield going in.  I took the right edge of the pavement and passed them like crazy as I rode in.  People were crowded around the planes.  I considered the effort required in riding a shortcut across the grass field, and also considered the hassle of bumper to bumper traffic going on the pavement with the vehicles, and decided not to check it out after having put in 5 hours of hard labor.

That is what bike riding is all about. When cars are stuck behind each other just to get to the event and you can take your time to go past them and head to the front of the line if you wish to.
