Was using Google maps today, to get directions, when I pressed
the way( walking, cars and such) they now have bicycle
as a option. So if your looking for a new route to work or
store, you can use that. It’s only for the U.S now, and not
Canada. Just thought everyonr might want to know. Enjoy the
Spring weather

I saw that today. Looks interesting. I use something http://www.gmap-pedometer.com. It’s actually for walking but i have fount it works well for biking.
Allows me to map my route on a street or off. (must use the third option down, called manually) I use it to measure milage on the bike trails or off road biking. It works for me.

What will they think of next? Today after reading Bikehead’s post (great work) I checked out my routes and did find that they have Iron Horse off of Vale to County Line when it should be on the other side of State Park. Not bad for something new. Let’s hear it for Cycle Power. Google is making more people aware of there area as far as the bike paths. Thanks Bikehead for this update.  cool smile
If only Google can do something about the weather. Great day today for a commute, was it not?

It’s really encouraging to see more attention being given to biking—like the new Google Maps option. I’ve always thought that enthusiasm for biking can be a very contagious thing, so any kind of initiative to promote biking in any way has a good chance of being successful.

Thanks, Google!

Glad to see it.  When I did my tour from Dayton to Wake Forest, NC & back the summer before last, I mostly used Google Maps to figure out where to go next.  Sometimes there were glitches.

On the mailing list I subscribe to, they said it was rolled out at a national bike convention of some sort on the 10th.

Can’t wait to try it out.  No time right now with my wife’s hip replacement Wed, and all that entails over the next few days.
