Missing link in region’s bikeway on track for 2012 construction
$2M approved for trail sections in Dayton and Kettering that will extend south to Centerville.

Last Thursday, March 4, the The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission did something very positive for us path riders, they unanimously approved the link between Iron Horse Trail at the northern city limits of Centerville and run north to the University of Dayton campus.

Just think a great bike way system is getting better.

Now I’m all for the bike paths that have and will be built, for they tend to direct cyclist out and around the main commerce but what about having a cyclist to be able to go to any any commerce. What about having some of the local establishments to be able to provide bicycle parking. I wonder if the city of Kettering will ever get the message.

This is good news, OS.  Any extension of the trail system is welcome.

I am with you on the poor understanding of the impact cyclist’s could have if they had a safe place to bike in the commerce areas.  Cyclists can’t be blamed for not riding their bikes more for errands, etc. in this area.  With the poor road shoulders and/or sidewalks to ride on, not to mention the brain dead car drivers, it is tough to convince even some of the more active cyclists that roadway cycling is safe.

Nevertheless, this is a welcomed enhancement to a great trail system.
