Hello All

I hope everyone is enjoying the snow, as much as I am.
Rode the bikeway, from Iron Horse park to Hempstead
Station road, there was about 3.5 inches of fresh powder
snow, this morning, like riding on a Christmas card.
Hope to head up to the Creekside bike path over the
week-end, and try it. Hope everyone gets a chance to
ride, this week-end.

I had been riding to work since the beginning of Oct, using Iron Horse from Woodbine south/east and along the road by the sewage treatment plant.  My tracks were the only bike tracks this week.  I didn’t ride today after the hassle at work, everyone wanted to take me home.  Afraid someone might hit me as I rode along Patterson Rd.  Work is at World Digital Imaging there off Patterson & Grange Hall in that dying strip mall that has the moose lodge and 5 oclock computers & the gun shop.  I drove my pickup today and felt less secure than I did riding.  It was kind of neat on the bike path.  The snow was about 5 or 6 inches deep in some places so it took a bit of effort, but mostly about 3 inches or so.  The only bad places were along the sewage treatment plant, where there are 5 entrances that the plow left a hump that I kicked spots through.  Probably plowed in again by now.  anyway, you are right.  “Like riding on a Christmas card!“

Some of my photos from this week I copied the links for in Photobucket.  I hope they work.  If not, copy and paste into your browser & you should be able to see them.

Well, I tried the link & it did not work.  For some reason, only about half of each link worked, so you will need to copy & paste if you want to see them.

Experimenting.  Instead of direct link, I am trying another, the HTML code:
http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0651.jpg

OK, that didn’t work so I will try something else, email & IM:

Well, that failed too.  Only one more choice to try, IMG code:  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0651.jpg

THAT ONE WORKED!  Experiment complete.

WOO HOO!  If you wanna post pics here, you can do it by loading your pics onto photobucket, then copying the IMG code, and pasting it into your message, flipping between the two windows, pedalopolis and photobucket.

Here are the pictures I tried to post above, only this time I am using the IMG code:

First shot is last week with a couple tracks, one mine and some other brave soul.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0531.jpg

Second shot is this week showing my lone track.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0643-1.jpg

This one is returning in the afternoon.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0646.jpg

This shot is yesterday, crossing the bridge just after and looking back at the intersection with County Line.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0650.jpg

I kicked through a snowplow drift at one of the driveways to the sewage treatment plant.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0651.jpg

I thought this was a nice picturesque place & snapped it.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0652.jpg

After I got home I thought maybe I should take a picture of my cold weather riding mask.  It is getting kind of worn.  I made it about 8 or 9 years ago.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0653.jpg

And the trusty bike.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0655.jpg

I tried to take some pictures of the neat snowflakes on my pickup window today too, but just didn’t quite do them justice, but here’s the best one of the lot.  http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x315/awanabug/Winter 09-10 Snow bike/IMG_0656.jpg

Enjoy!

Your pictures make me want to drag out the mountain bike and give the trails a try…...almost red face  I’ll wait until the temps get above freezing before getting back on the bike…..

I had reason to be in the neighborhood of the Xenia Station yesterday.  No bike tracks in the snow in either direction.  Really is too deep yet for any comfort in a ride.  Soon though.
