Great Miami trail under I-75 at Stanley Avenue
Trail Condition - Montgomery County
Written by Round Tripper
Thursday, 21 February 2008
The I-75 reconstruction has left a gap in the new section of the Great Miami River Trail.
For the Stanley Ave. project, the bike path will be closed beneath the bridge for the entire duration of the bridge reconstruction. It should be re-opened mid to late summer 2009. As of right now the plans do not call for a detour to be posted. ODOT is looking into posting one, however.

Sewer Access Road Trail

The Dayton Sewer Access Road used to be a bike trail. It's paved, but the trail is in such disrepair, I hardly believe that the Dayton Water Department could access their sewers if they needed to. Today, No Trespassing signs are posted, but runners, dog walkers and skateboarders use the trail frequently. I've taken two rides there, and once got through without blowing a tire.

The Montgomery County Engineer’s Office is proposing to realign and improve Austin Pike between SR-741 and Washington Church Road, just north of the Dayton Wright Brothers Airport. You are invited to attend an open house public meeting providing information about this project on Thursday, March 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dayton Wright Brothers Airport, 10600 Springboro Pike.
The bikeway portion of this project is a key connector in the future vision to join the Great Miami Trail and the Little Miami Trail across the southern Dayton Suburbs. Please make every effort to get to this meeting to make sure the project includes the bikeway. Voices need to be heard to make this a bike-friendly region.

Wednesday, 12 December 2007
The reconstruction of the Stillwater River Recreation Trail in Triangle and DeWeese Parks was completed last week by MCD's contractor. A portion of the trail was realigned where it had collapsed into the river and other sections were completely rebuilt and upgraded to current design standards. We also added a new connector at the intersection with the newly completed segment of the Great Miami Trail just north of the trail's suspension bridge over the Great Miami River. Enjoy the ride!
Great Miami River Trail at Washington Street Bridge in Dayton

The Great Miami River Recreation Trail at the Washington Street Bridge remains closed. The old bridge was demolished and the new bridge was opened to traffic last week. However, work beneath the bridge where the trail is located is incomplete. It may be spring 2008 before the trail is restored and reopened on the river's left bank. The trail on the river's right bank (western) side is open for use---that side of the bridge was completed first and the trail was restored and re-opened. The detour used during the bridge's construction is still viable. Continue to the use the detour until further notice.
Stay tuned for further updates.

Information about the Little Miami Trail from Alan Ferguson, the DNR Trail Manager. "I could use your assistance in getting the word out about a possible trail closure between MM 33.5 and 34.0 (near the Route 48 Bridge underpass). Rusty and our South Region Equipment crew are working on the wash-out and culvert failure there. They may have to close the trail during the next few days. They will do their best to avoid any inconvenience to trail users and to keep any closure at a minimum. "
